Audiovisual
Caminos del Inka, a musical journey concerts are complemented by images and audio to enhance the understanding of the context and content of the music.
Selected works are accompanied by a sequence of photographs. Among these works is "Leyendas" by Gabriela Frank, which was inspired by a trip the composer made throughout the Peruvian Andes. The photographs depict the places and emotions that she experienced during her journey. "Colección de Música Virreina," compiled by Baltasar Martínez y Compañón toward the end of the 18th century, is presented with a collection of watercolors that he painted as he observed life in Colonial Peru, as well as photography of Colonial architecture. "Illapa" by Gabriela Frank tells the story of the Andean deity Illapa. The piece is accompanied by images of ancient pottery and silver or gold artwork (which was used by pre-Hispanic cultures to depict stories, expressions and actions, since there was no writing or painting at the time).
In addition, short video clips precede certain works that do not have simultaneous photography. These video clips give insight into the works, background, composers and other elements that may be relevant to a better appreciation and understanding of the repertoire.
