Incienso
(Incense), composed by Diego Luzuriaga (Ecuador) in 1988. This piece was inspired in a popular ritual called “Pase del Niño,” observed by the composer Quito, in which a religious procession was escorted by two bands, one in front and one in the back. The work is antiphonal in nature and the composer heard the main melody from the Indians of Cotopaxi. The Cotopaxi volcano is the highest active volcano in the world. Published by FILARMONIKA.
